New Pendant Necklace at 1000 Markets

Last Saturday, I went to the Divine Bead Show in Mansfield, MA. I was looking for something specific and pretty sure the vendors there would not have it. I was right. I wanted something with a hole large enough for a 1.5 - 2 mm leather cord. And most important, not expensive. The not expensive part does not match most of the vendors at that show.

Now this is not a complaint, just a fact. I'm trying to make some badge lanyards for my Lexie line of jewelry. My buddy, Melanie, came up with the idea and we had it all planned out. Even a great bead picked out. The order was placed and when it arrived everything came (plus those little things you add on to an order to meet minimum) except the beads for the lanyards. As they say back to the drawing board.

Fortunately, there is another bead show this coming weekend and I'll try again.

When you go to a bead show, you can not come home empty handed. So, I took another look around and found some really nice pendants. Complete with bails. What a bargain! I could have purchase many more beautiful pieces but the budget was saying "Not now, Bev"

Checking my inventory in one of my drawers, I found a nice piece of black ribbon and some black silk cord. Voila, a very nice pendant necklace. A quick trip to the local bead shop for finishing ends and it was done.




I particularly, like the endings I found. Not exactly sure what they are called but I've used the same type on my Kumihimo bracelets. I makes a very smooth professional looking finish.

Artists on 1000 Markets

I try, as a rule to post 5 times a week, Monday through Friday. Yesterday, try as I may, I could not come up with a idea. I even posted that fact on my Facebook page. (You can follow me on

I received a comment from Ingrid Hobbs of One Meaning Couture. You may remember Ingrid as one of the founders of One Meaning Couture. They featured Friends of Jaclyn as one of their charities in January. Friends of Jaclyn matches young children with brain cancer with sports teams. The results are amazing for both for the patient and the teams. Check out their web sites or my post in January.

Her suggestion was "step away from it and come back in the morning....you can't force it."
Great idea. So, I did just that and here I am. Thanks Ingrid.

An idea came to me that if I'm not making anything worth sharing right now, many others are. So, I started looking over the web site where I have my shop on 1000 Markets. www.bevsjewelry.1000marklets.com I spent some time surfing some of the amazing things available.

It took me awhile to zero in on one person but I finally chose Glasstastic Treasures in Lake Nebagamon, WI. As you would expect from the name, she makes the most beautiful things from glass. A skill I have always admired. Here is one of my favorites from her collection:

Reorganized 1000 Markets Shop

I spent some time recently thinking about how my web sites should be organized. It finally occurred to me that when people shop, they are not looking for Chain Maille or Kumihimo or what ever other technique I might have. They are looking for a bracelet or necklace or set. Well, that is the conclusion I came to.


What do you all think? Agree ? Disagree ?


How do you shop for jewelry? Do you shop for jewelry? Now that is an important question.


Anyhow, I made some new "collections" in my 1000 Markets shop; bracelets and necklaces. Now, I can put each piece in the appropriate collection. They can go into more than one collection and therefore stay in the Kumihimo or Chain Maille group.

So all that set me thinking even more. (Getting tired here) So, I made one more collection. New items. That will be a revolving group of new items that will be removed as newer items come up.


Well, after all that thinking we'll see what effect it might have on sales.

Heron Kate has some lovely paintings - "paintings for you and your floor" Her floor cloths are made with heavy canvas and are coated with a varathane floor finish - they wear very well and are so easy to clean! It would be nice to have at your sink, for example.

New "Video"

Every have something right under your nose and not know it?

In one of my recent posts, I mentioned I was going to try to make some videos for my web sites. That was rather brave since I had no idea how I was going to do it.

Then I was poking around with my software program, Picasa. I use that to down load my pictures from my digital camera and to do easy editing of my pictures. While staring at the screen as something was happening, I noticed a little icon and when I moused over it I saw "movie". Lo and behold, I can make simple movies out of my pictures.

After a few misses I have the above "video". Now isn't anything I planned, so it is just some recent pictures I took to put new items up on my 1000 Markets web store. However, it did work and it was right under my nose.

Now I have to do some refining and purposeful to get something that I really want to share. Maybe there are some special effects?? I'll try reading the help file. (What a concept!)

So, what do you think? Does it work on your computer? I'm expecting it may not on all computers but we'll see. Let me know.

Chain Maille bracelet

This is one of my favorite Chain Maille bracelets for several reasons. First I really love the clasp. Sunflowers are such fun and it really makes the fairly simple bracelet, "pop".




Second the Chain Maille pattern, Half Persian, has a reputation of being hard to do. Therefore, if I have mastered it, whoo, who! It really isn't hard to do, just hard to start.

I've been very impressed with this new venue for artists. The look is beautiful both for shops and buyers. I have purchased several items myself and have been very pleased with both the quality of the products and with the buying experience.

1000 Markets purchase

Since I joined 1000 Markets to sell my jewelry, it occurred to me that by buying something from another shop, I could find out how easy the process is (or not) plus support I could support another shop owner.

I found lots of nice things to purchase from the very talented shop owners. As I browsed the various offerings, I found something I liked at LaWatha's Glass Creations. She is located in Washington State. I purchased a Dichroic Fused Butterfly pendant shown here. I'll probably wear it myself but might consider working it into one of my creations.

To finish the transaction, I received two emails from Amazon (the payment method used by 1000 Markets) One acknowledging the receipt of my order and one that payment was sent. Also I received an email from 1000 Markets acknowledging the order via LaWatha's Glass Creations.

The whole process was very easy.

1000 Markets new shop

I've started a new adventure. Most of you know about Esty and the shops you can have on that web site. About a year or so ago, I signed up for an Esty account but never did anything with it. Not sure why I signed up really. I like the site and there are some beautiful things offered there.

I made my own web site http://www.bevsjewelry.com/ . I used a wysiwyg program to write it. It took time and I think it looks good. I even get some orders from it.

About two weeks ago I found http://www.1000markets.com/ It is relatively new and looked very professional. It is very similar to Esty. So, off I went to see what it was all about and if I could make a "shop". As you may have guessed, I now have a shop on 1000 Markets.

The URL is http://www.bevsjewelry.1000markets.com I only have 6 items in the shop so far. Little steps, but a start. I have plans for new items soon.
